Challenge Tracks

There are three tracks to choose from for CougHacks 2020. We have one track centered around the general theme of Community Enhancement. Stemming from that are two seperate tracks known as Downtown Parking Availability and Government Accessability. All three tracks will have a first place prize.

Parking Availability

Sponsored by The City of Everett

Residents and visitors find it difficult to find on street parking within the downtown area of Everett. Past parking utilization studies have shown there may be enough parking stalls in the downtown, but public perception is parking availability is a challenge.

Success Criteria:

  • Any tool that can help residents or visitors find parking within a reasonable walking distance to their destination.
  • Any tool that can track the parking time and remind the visitor or resident their parking time is about to expire.

Available Resources:

Governemnt Accessability

Sponsored by Snohomish County

Many Snohomish County residents have a desire to receive informational notifications from the various county and city government agencies that serve them. In many cases, residents don’t know what notification information is available, which government agencies provide what types of information or where to enroll in notifications.

Success Criteria:

  • End users have a single place to enroll in notifications
  • End users enroll for notifications without the need to know which government agency is providing the information.
  • Solution is easy to use and intuitive

Available Resources:

Some notification systems already exist. You can use them as a reference or incorporate them into your solution.

Community Enhancement

Have an idea that doesn't fit into the two other tracks? We also have a track for general community enhancement.

Success Criteria:

  • Solution increases the quality of people's lives
  • Solution brings people together

Available Resources:

You may use any data you see fit to augment your project
